Alternatives
Fitbod alternatives.
There are two different reasons people look for a Fitbod alternative, and they lead to different answers. One is price. The other is that Fitbod does not plan your running, and if you run as well as lift, that leaves you running two apps that never speak to each other.
Fitbod is strength only and requires an account. If you also run, an app that plans both is a better fit; FitBoost does that free, with no account, on iPhone only.
What Fitbod is, and is not
Fitbod is the best-known personalised strength app ( over 15 million downloads and a 4.8 rating ) and it is very good at the thing it does. Its own site is explicit that it focuses on resistance-based work and that running and dedicated cardio planning are not primary features.
That is not a flaw. It is a scope decision, and if you only lift it is the right one.
If you also run
This is where the gap opens. Bolting a running app onto a strength app gives you two plans that do not know each other exists, and the collision is predictable: heavy legs the day before a long run.
An app that plans both puts them in one week, spaced so neither undercuts the other. FitBoost does this, free and with no account. Runna does it too, as a subscription with more race-specific depth.
If the subscription is the reason
If you only lift and you want it free, a dedicated free strength logger will go deeper on strength than FitBoost does, FitBoost is a planner rather than a logging tool, and it plans running as well.
Be honest with yourself about which of the two reasons brought you here, because they point different ways.
What FitBoost gives up against Fitbod
Stated plainly, because it matters if strength is your main sport:
- No Android version, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch only
- Less depth on pure strength progression than a dedicated strength app
- No community and no coaching
- New, with not enough App Store ratings yet to show a score
- But: free, no account, works offline, and it plans your running too
Method and limits
Everything stated about Fitbod comes from its own public website, checked in August 2026, and is limited to what that source says directly. We do not list Fitbod pricing because it is not published on the page we checked and it varies by region.
This page is published by FitBoost and is not independent.
